Two Stories & Where I’ve Been
My latest two columns have no videos to accompany them, both because I’ve been too freakin’ busy, and because, for these topics, it would have taken a lot more effort to create a video. You’ll see why. The first column, called SEVEN YEAR ITCH, is about my relationship with David, and relationships in general. What makes them work? Why do people fall out of love? As my seventh anniversary of being with my man approaches, we examined the issue and came up with our own speculations. Plus, lots of people have been commenting with their own thoughts, and I invite you to add yours on the column page if you have them. My column this week, hot off the presses, is a strange follow up for last week’s, because it’s called FLYING SOLO, and might lead people to believe that after my “itch” I left David. Not the case. In fact, this story is about doing things alone, as I recently attended a Broadway musical by my lonesome. Again, I invite you to comment — do you go to movies, out to dinner, to shows alone? If not, are you afraid to for some reason? The concept fascinates me, as I have mixed feelings dependent on what it is I’m going alone to.
So, where have I been? Santa Barbara. David and I spend three wonderful nights at our friend Kerry’s place. During the days we went wine tasting or barbecued with the gorgeous panoramic view she has of the hills, harbor, and ocean. The place is ridiculously relaxing. I posted a bunch of pictures on my Twitter Pic page, which you can SEE HERE. On the way up, David and I stopped off in Venice Beach to lunch with my uncle, who is also pictured on my TwitPic page. We shopped for a bit on Abbott Kinney, an area I love. Wish we had one like it in San Diego. Despite a weekend full of way too much drinking (of incredibly delicious wines, including Carnival of Love, a new favorite), David and I returned home refreshed and relaxed, and eager to return and spend more time hanging with Kerry and Mia.
This week has been a crunch, tonight I’m heading out to a mixer, to see what’s what, and tomorrow morning (Thursday morning), I’ll be down at NBC studios for another segment of Stepping Out with Barbarella. If you’re up at 6:45 a.m., tune in! For now, back to work. I’m already looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home, planning to spend some quiet time with myself and a book.
