4 “weddings”
Now that my most pressing work is done, I am finally ready to relax this week, for the first time in over a month. Finally, I have no plans for a weekend, and I’m going to keep it that way. One of the things that kept me busy, as you know, was my sister’s wedding. In my COLUMN this week, which I titled MARRIED OFF, I used each of my sisters’ weddings, and my anti-wedding, to summarize our individual characteristics. For example, I’m the black sheep, therefore I bucked the system and eloped. Heather is a traditionalist, so she had the big-ass Catholic mass thing, and so on. Oh, and I talk about bridesmaids dresses, for better or worse. If you want the really, really short summary, simply watch this video:
The Event of the Week is summer movies at Balboa Park. Free, outdoors, picnic-y, it doesn’t get more summery than that. Last night I had a lot of fun at a Project Runway party. The show is taken seriously at this gathering, and bets were laid. It adds a new level of involvement and interest in the show when you invest in the winner or loser.
Tomorrow morning, I’m doing a spot on KNSD, our local NBC station. Between 11 and 11:30, I believe. I should check on that. Tune in, but worry not, as I’ll be posting a YouTube video of the segment, as always.
It’s 11 now, I’m showered after a jaunt to the park and back, and ready to… what? Clean is what I want to get done, but I promised myself I’d get back to working on my big writing project, the one for which there is no deadline, and no guarantee of success — my labor of love. Yes, I think I’ll spend some time on that today. AND clean. Because I have a few troublemakers coming over tonight to watch the original Hellboy in preparation for our trip to the theater to see the sequel. It feels good to be back into a routine, and it feels good to relax at home. Our next trip (a surprise for me, and David isn’t dropping any hints) is the end of August. I really just want to chill and get a leg up until then. Time goes so fast.
